Management and Reputation.—The company has built up a considerable business and agency plant, and has ac-cumulated a substantial surplus. It is in good repute as regards loss payments.
The firm of Carson and Williams Bros., Ltd., acts as general managers of the company under an agreement based upon salary and contingent commission.
The volume of business transacted is large in pro-portion to the company's net cash resources. In 1919 the loss ratio was normal; the expense ratio was moderate.
The investments are of good character.
The real estate owned is the company's Home Office building at Scott and Wellington streets.
The mortgage loans are nearly all small, and are mainly upon property in the Province of Ontario.
