GENERAL REVIEW.
History.—This company was incorporated under the laws of the State of California on September 26, 1919, and was licensed March 36, 1920. It expected to begin business about April 15, 1920.
It has an authorized capital of $250,000, all of which has been subscribed and paid in, with a surplus of $150,000.
Stock, par value $100, was sold at $160 per share, thus providing the surplus.
There was no promotion expense, which is very commendable.
Management and Reputation.—Thomas R. Lamb, of Thomas R. Lamb Company, Inc., organized and promoted the company, and will be its general agent.
He states that he has had about ten years' experience, first as a local agent and then as general agent for the automobile department of the California Insurance Company; later, and for about three and one-half years, he has been general agent for the automobile department of the Alliance Assurance Company, Ltd., of London. He has also been for three years general agent for the automobile department of the Commonwealth Insurance Company of New York.
Figures which he afforded us relating to the loss ratios of his department for 1917, 1918 and 1919 indicate that he has made good profits for his companies.
The company will write fire insurance, and automobile fire and theft, property damage and collision insurance at board rates.
This company was examined by the Insurance Department of the State of California (report dated March 27, 1920), for the purpose of determining whether certificate of authority to transact business should be granted and the report was very favorable.
The directors owned, as of March 17, 1920, at par value, $155,900 of the $250,000 capital stock.
