FIDELITY UNION FIRE INSURANCE COMPANY,
Dallas, Texas.
History.— This company was incorporated under the
laws of the State of Texas and was licensed and began
business March 20, 1920, with an authorized capital of
$400,000, of which $300,000 has been paid in, and a sur
plus of $150,000.
Stock, par value $100, was sold at $150 per share, thus
providing the surplus. There was no expense of promotion,
which is very commendable.
Management and Reputation.— Bailey & Collins, who
organized this company, have been appointed United States
managers under a general agency agreement, of which we
have a copy and whose provisions are very favorable to
the company. Bailey & Collins are prominent underwrit
ers in the South and Southwest and are also managers of
the Equity Mutual Fire Insurance Company, Dallas, Tex.,
of the Millers Indemnity Underwriters, Dallas, Tex., which
writes workmen's compensation and liability insurance un
der reciprocal plan, and of the American Lloyds of Dallas,
Tex.
P. B. Bailey was formerly secretary-actuarl of the South-
western Life Insurance Company of Dallas, Tex., and later
was vice-president and manager of the Ft. Worth Life In
surance Company of Ft. Worth, Tex.
Carr P. Collins was formerly secretary of the Industrial
Accident Board of Texas, and later secretary of the Texas
Employers Insurance Association.
The president, J. S. Le Clereq, is also president of the
Dallas Oil & Refining Company, and the directors are con
nected with prominent business enterprises in the South-
west. All of the officers except the president and the first
vice-president have been in the insurance business for a
number of years, and Justin Harrison the assistant secre
tary, who will be in direct charge of the underwriting, has
had twelve years' experience as underwriter with the gen-
eral agency of Trezevant & Cochran, Dallas, Tex., who are
southwestern managers for many companies.
It will write fire, tornado, lightning, marine and auto-
mobile insurance.
The assets of the company as of March 16, 1920, were as
follows:
