REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT.

Including the whole business of the mixed companies, as well outside as within the Dominion, it appears that the Canadian companies have received during the year 1805 a total cash income of $4,554,423.€3, which is made up as follows :-

In the same way the cash expenditure during 1895 has been $4,600,174.85, distributed into :-

Thus it appears that for every 8100 of income there has been spent $101, namely, for losses, $65.57 ; for general expenses, $31.87 ; and for dividends to stockholders, $3.56. Hence, also, for every $100 of premiums received there has been paid out 867.74 for losses, $32.93 for expenses, and $3.68 for div dends to stockholders.

The total cash income received by the Canadian companies during the twenty-one years from 1875 to 1895 inclusive, is $75,600,798.75. The respective amounts for the several years and the distribution thereof under proper headings, are shown in the sub-joined table :-
