Lowest Term Life Rates $1 Million+

So as you can see from above, if you do all of the things you should do to remain healthy and you get “Platinum” status and the highest # of vitality points each year, the rate you pay goes down a little bit each year.

If you get the second highest points and you achieve “Gold” status, your rate stays the same.

If you get the “Silver” or “Bronze” status, your rates go up a little each year.  If you’re not committed to maintaining good health, exercising and seeing your doctor on regular basis, than the Vitality program is not going to be best for you.

How Is John Hancock Vitality for Health Issues?

I also looked at standard rates, standard smoker rates and table ratings for the vitality product.

Here is a comparison at ages 45 and 55 of absolute best $1,000,000- 20 year term standard non-smoker and standard smoker rates available and the John Hancock Vitality rates.  These are all annual rates:

Male Age 45                            Best Rate        John Hancock
Standard Non Smoker             $2,001              $2,435
Standard Smoker                     $5,382              $8,934

Male Age 55                            Best Rate        John Hancock
Standard Non Smoker             $5,143               $5,915
Standard Smoker                     $12,305             $20,894

Based on above, John Hancock Vitality is not competitive for Standard risks, standard smoker risks or on table ratings since Hancock rates off of their Standard rate class.

John Hancock has been very aggressive for some older age very well controlled type 2 diabetics, some people with sleep apnea, recent low stage cancer cases and now John Hancock will even insure some HIV positive people.

So it may make sense to at least see what John Hancock may offer you if you are in less than perfect health.

So is John Hancock Vitality A Good Deal?

If you are most interested in having a life insurance policy with the absolute lowest cost, than the John Hancock Vitality program may only be best for you if you are in fairly good health, are age 35 to 55 and you’re looking for life insurance in amounts of $1,000,000 up to $25,000,000.

There may be exceptions to the above age ranges if you happen to fall into one of John Hancock’s underwriting niche’s, plus rates are always changing as many companies are constantly competing to have the best life insurance rates.

Rates a week from now may be different than the rates shown above.

If you’re a Standard or Regular risk or if you have health issues, then John Hancock may not be the best company for you.

Bottom line is that if you need life insurance and are under age 55 and healthy and/or if you are looking for a way to improve your health with incentives for you to do so, than Vitality could be a great way for you to do this and at a great rate!

 John Hancock Protection UL

While they offer several permanent types of life insurance, John Hancock's Protection UL is the most competitively priced.

They also offer Vitality on permanent life insurance which could also help reduce your rate.

While it is not a true Guaranteed Universal Life insurance product, Protection UL does offer a longer guarantee and can be more cost effective than any GUL product.  Plus it can build cash surrender value which most GUL's do not.

John Hancock also offers a long term care rider on all of their permanent life insurance products.

Compare Protection UL to Best GUL

Check out the $250,000 Protection UL rates below compared to the absolute best Guaranteed Universal Life rates below.  These are all monthly rates for males and females at various ages:

                  Protection UL       Best GUL

Male 50:       $189                     $199

Male 60:       $322                     $325

Female 40:   $108                     $115

Female 50:   $167                     $171

Female 60:   $275                     $279

If you want a product that is guaranteed for life, than Protection UL won't be best for you.

But if you're looking for a permanent life insurance product with guarantee that will take you beyond average life expectancy, with projected cash value and the option to add a long term care rider to your policy, than Protection UL may be a good product for you.
