Life insurance rates for pilots can be as good as the rates for non-pilots, depending on your piloting experience.
If you’re a commercial pilot flying a passenger airline, then you should be able to qualify for the best Preferred Plus rate with most carriers assuming good health otherwise.
If you’re a commercial pilot that does aerial photography, for example, then most insurance companies will charge you an additional premium due to this specific aviation occupation. We’ve been able to get exceptions on some of these type cases and have been able to get the extra premium removed, but it’s not always easy.
For private pilots that need life insurance, that only fly for pleasure or personal transportation/business, they may be able to qualify for Preferred Plus or Preferred rates with some carriers.
